Grammar Explanations:

โ€œThatโ€™s funny! Write it down!โ€

1. ใฏ (wa):

The particle "ใฏ" marks the topic of the sentence. For example, "ใ‚ใŸใ—ใฏ ใพใ‚Šใ“ใงใ™" (Watashi wa Mariko desu) means "As for me, I am Mariko." It shows what the sentence is about.

2. ใ‚’ (o):

The particle "ใ‚’" marks the direct object of the verb. In "ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“ใ‚’ ใ‹ใ‚“ใŒใˆใพใ™" (jลdan o kangaemasu), "ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“" (joke) is the object of the verb "ใ‹ใ‚“ใŒใˆใพใ™" (think).

3. ใงใ™ (desu):

"ใงใ™" is a polite way to end a sentence and indicate that something "is." For example, "ใŸใ„ใ›ใคใงใ™" (taisetsu desu) means "It is important."

4. ใŒ (ga):

The particle "ใŒ" is used to mark the subject of the sentence, especially when introducing new information or contrasting something. In "ใฟใ‚“ใชใŒ ใ‚ใ‚‰ใ„ใพใ™" (minna ga waraimasu), "ใฟใ‚“ใช" (everyone) is marked as the subject.

5. ใจ (to):

In "ใ‚ใŸใ—ใฎ ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“ใ‚’ ใฟใ‚“ใชใŒ ใ‚ใ‚‰ใ†ใจใ€ใ‚ใŸใ—ใฏ ใ†ใ‚Œใ—ใ„ใงใ™" (Watashi no jลdan o minna ga warau to, watashi wa ureshii desu), "ใจ" (to) is used to mean "when." It indicates a condition: "When everyone laughs, I am happy."

6. ใ„ใคใ‚‚ (itsumo):

This means "always." In "ใพใ‚Šใ“ใฏ ใ„ใคใ‚‚ ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“ใ‚’ ใ‹ใ‚“ใŒใˆใพใ™" (Mariko wa itsumo jลdan o kangaemasu), "ใ„ใคใ‚‚" shows that Mariko always thinks of jokes.

7. ใ‚‚ใฃใจ (motto):

"ใ‚‚ใฃใจ" means "more" or "even more." In "ใ‚‚ใฃใจ ใŠใ‚‚ใ—ใ‚ใ„ใงใ™ใ‹" (motto omoshiroi desu ka), it asks if something is "even funnier."

8. ใคใฅใ‘ใพใ™ (tsuzukemasu):

This verb means "to continue." In "ใพใ‚Šใ“ใฏ ใ‚‚ใฃใจ ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“ใ‚’ ใคใฅใ‘ใพใ™" (Mariko wa motto jลdan o tsuzukemasu), it means "Mariko continues with more jokes."

9. ใคใใ‚‹ใฎใŒ ใ™ใใงใ™ (tsukuru no ga suki desu):

"ใฎ" (no) is used to turn a verb into a noun-like phrase. "ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“ใ‚’ ใคใใ‚‹" means "to make jokes," and "ใฎใŒ ใ™ใ" means "like to do." So "ใ˜ใ‚‡ใ†ใ ใ‚“ใ‚’ ใคใใ‚‹ใฎใŒ ใ™ใใงใ™" means "I like making jokes."

10. ใ“ใ‚Œใ‹ใ‚‰ใ‚‚ (kore kara mo):

This phrase means "from now on as well" or "continue from here." In "ใ“ใ‚Œใ‹ใ‚‰ใ‚‚ ใ‹ใ‚“ใŒใˆใคใฅใ‘ใพใ™" (kore kara mo kangae tsuzukemasu), it means "will continue thinking from now on."

Thatโ€™s all folks!

Let me know if you enjoyed this simple story :)

Have a great Sunday!
